common chromosomal disorders :: Article Creator US Rep. Nikki Budzinski Goes To Bat For Down Syndrome Families U.S. Rep. Nikki Budzinski, D-Springfield.  Flickr/Public Domain On an issue clearly dear to her heart, U.S. Rep. Nikki Budzinski, D-Springfield, has introduced legislation that would help parents and families of Down syndrome children. Reaching across the aisle to join with GOP U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro, R-New York, the bill proffered by the pair aims to ensure that Down syndrome children receive quality care. Budzinski issued a statement noting that her nephew was diagnosed with Down syndrome and had to undergo open-heart surgery four months after being born. "Between navigating treatment options and figuring out how you're going to pay for it, receiving a new diagnosis for your child is scary,"  Budzinski said. "No family should have to figure all this out on their own." ...

pfeiffer syndrome prince :: Article Creator The 25 Greatest Prince Songs Of All Time It's criminal – and let's face it, impossible – to authoritatively declare 25 Prince songs as the greatest ever recorded by the late musical genius. But that never stopped Prince fans from trying, so fix yourself a snack of starfish and coffee (with maple syrup and jam), and prepare to be outraged at the hundreds of brilliant tracks that have been omitted from this list.   1 of 25 "Little Red Corvette" — 1983 Jim Steinfeldt/Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images There are hit singles that redefine what you think you know about popular music. "I Wanna Hold Your Hand," "Johnny B. Goode" and "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" stand out in that regard. "Little Red Corvette" didn't sound like anything Prince had recorded prior to "1999," and bore little aural resemblance to the work o...

nf 1 chromosome :: Article Creator Inheritance And Genetics Of Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1) Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is a hereditary disorder caused by an alteration – called a mutation – in the NF1 gene, which is located on chromosome 17. The NF1 gene contains a code of instructions for making a protein called neurofibromin, which is produced in many cells, including nerve cells and specialized cells surrounding nerves (Schwann cells). The neurofibromin protein acts as a tumor suppressor, preventing cells from growing and dividing too rapidly. The NF1 gene mutation leads to the production of a nonfunctional or absent neurofibromin protein that is unable to regulate cell growth and division, resulting in the growth of neurofibromas (skin tumors) along nerves throughout the body. Inherited Mutations All people have two copies of every gene – one copy inherited from each parent. The NF1 gene mutation is dominant, which means that only one o...

astrazeneca blood disorder :: Article Creator AstraZeneca Hikes Annual Profit Outlook By Maggie Fick and Eva Mathews LONDON (Reuters) -AstraZeneca raised its annual earnings forecast on Thursday, helped by strong demand for its cancer drugs, and moved to boost its pipeline in the booming anti-obesity market with a deal costing up to $2 billion. The Anglo-Swedish company reported third-quarter profit and revenue just ahead of analyst expectations. For the third consecutive quarter, strong sales of its blockbuster cancer treatments and healthy demand in emerging markets offset the loss of sales of its COVID-19 vaccine and therapy. The London-listed company also said it had bought an exclusive licence for an oral weight-loss drug candidate for up to about $2 billion from China's Eccogene, aiming to join what is currently one of the fastest-growing pharmaceutical markets.
