Some 250,000 home health care workers must get the coronavirus vaccine by Friday, but tens of thousands of them have yet to receive it. In the upstate city of Johnstown, north of Albany, two-thirds of the home health aides at one small agency have notified their director that they intend to quit rather than get vaccinated against the coronavirus, as they are required to do this week under a state mandate. At the Visiting Nurse Service of New York, the state's largest home health care organization, about 400 workers are expected to be unable to work after the mandate takes effect. And in the New York City area, a union leader for home health care workers says he expects thousands of his members will be put on leave. "We need more time," said Joe Pecora, the vice president of Home Healthcare Workers of America, a union that represents about 32,000 home health care workers in New York City and its suburbs. HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Montefiore Health System and UnitedHealthcare have reunited in a deal that could help to reunite thousands of Hudson Valley residents with their doctors. UnitedHealthcare announced on Thursday that it has reached a long-term agreement with Montefiore Health System to restore access to the system's hospitals, facilities and its physicians for people enrolled in UnitedHealthcare and Oxford employer-sponsored plans, as well as UnitedHealthcare's Medicare Advantage Dual Special Needs Plan, effective Dec. 1, 2021. Washington State is behind schedule for establishing a Universal Health Care Commission, which is tasked with exploring ways to implement universal coverage for residents.  The commission was created by the legislature last session, and went into effect on July 25. It was supposed to hold its first meeting within 90 days, a benchmark which passed last week. The commission consists of 14 members, seven of which are appointed by Gov. Jay Inslee. State suspends adult foster care license for Macomb Township home - The Macomb Daily

The adult foster care license for a Macomb Township facility has been suspended and may be revoked after the filing of a 12-count complaint by the state Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs' Bureau of Community and Health Systems. An investigation of the facility known as True Tender Loving Care Adult Fostering LLC, located in the 45000 block on Lone Pine Road, north of Hall Road between Card and Heydenreich roads, found violations of the Adult Foster Care Facility Licensing Act and administrative rules, according to LARA. The license obtained by the owner in 2018 to care for up to five residents was suspended effective Oct. 4, the complaint says. The suspension prohibits True Tender Loving Care from operating an adult foster care small group home at that location or anywhere else, LARA officials said in a news release. A Monmouth County doctor who admitted his sexual misconduct with a woman he was treating for substance abuse had his license suspended by the State Board of Medical Examiners, the New Jersey Attorney General's Office announced Thursday. Francis Rienzo, 60, of Sea Girt, who has a private practice in Sea Girt, and practices at numerous treatment centers across New Jersey, will have his state medical credentials suspended for three years and will pay a civil penalty and costs totaling $85,856 to resolve the matter, the office said in a statement. He will be precluded from practicing medicine while serving two years of active suspension, and the remaining year as a period of probation under the consent order with the State Board of Medical Examiners. "We will not tolerate sexual misconduct by healthcare professionals towards their patients," said Acting New Jersey Attorney General Andrew Bruck said in the statement.
