Cop's hearing postponed - Danbury News Times
EAST HAVEN — A scheduled hearing on the suspension of a whistle-blowing cop was abruptly rescheduled Thursday to an unspecified date.
Few details were available Thursday night, but Police Officer Vincent Ferrara, whose 2011 testimony led to the arrest and imprisonment of four cops for a campaign of harassment and intimidation, said he was told by his legal team that the hearing with Police Chief Edward Lennon, scheduled to gauge his fitness for returning to work after nearly a year, was postponed.
Both Ferrara’s attorneys and Stephen Sedor, a lawyer for the town, did not return calls for comment Thursday night. Ferrara was diagnosed with a brain tumor about a year ago, shortly after he was put on a paid suspension over a disciplinary issue involving the use of the police department’s email server. A recent letter from Ferrara’s neurosurgeon said he was fit to return to work.
Ferrara is also suing the town over alleged retribution tactics in connection with the federal investigation into the abuse of Latinos.
